Ruby Hanson

She is the current past dean of science at the Faculty of Science, University of Education, Winneba. She is also a former Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of her institution, University of Education, Winneba. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry Education from the same university and completed a master programme in analytical and environmental chemistry (toxicology) at the University of Cape Coast, also in Ghana. Her research focuses on the design of interactive approaches to enhance students’ conceptions through sub micro chemistry activities, the integration of systems thinking, engineering and the social sciences into chemistry curricula to inculcate into learners, principles that could help to mitigate humanitarian challenges and STEM education. She champions and teaches STEM and Gender issues in her institution and nearby communities.

Ruby was the Chairperson in the recent review of her University’s Gender and Sexual Harassment Policies. She has singularly and co-won six grants that were awarded by the American Chemical Society towards whipping up young rural children, especially girls, between the ages of 10 to 15 years’ interest in STEM issues. Professor Ruby Hanson has over 100 publications in the forms of books, chapters in edited books, journal articles and conference proceedings to her credit.
