Mike Nelson

Visiting Graduate Student

Mike is a researcher and academic, with a strong background in the fields of quantum information theory and quantum computing. He completed his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Guelph, where he conducted research in the area of Quantum Information and Computing. Prior to that, he earned a BSc in Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Mathematical Sciences. He also holds an MPhil in Mathematical Physics, which he completed as part of the Perimeter Scholars International program at the prestigious Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.

In 2018, Mike participated in a joint internship program between AIMS-NEI and MITACS Canada, where he served as a visiting research and administrative intern at QLA. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, where he continues to make significant contributions to the field of quantum information theory. Mike’s research interests include quantum cryptographic protocols, quantum error correction, and quantum computing. He has also worked as an academic tutor at AIMS-Ghana, where he helped to inspire and guide the next generation of scientists and researchers.
