Brigitte Umutoni

Brigitte Umutoni is a Data scientist and epidemiologist with expertise in disease modeling, spatial analysis, and biostatistics. She received her undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Rwanda and went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Statistics and Data Science with a specialization in Quantitative Epidemiology at Hasselt University in Belgium. For her Master’s thesis, she investigated social contact patterns relevant to the spread of infectious diseases in a rural sub-Saharan setting.

Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in Data Science at Quantum Leap Africa(QLA), where her research focuses on data-driven modeling for evaluating the impact and early detection of Rift Valley Fever outbreaks in Rwanda. Her research interests include statistical analysis, disease modeling, spatial analysis in epidemiology, biostatistics, and Machine learning.
